JONETSU Engagement Session in Vancouver: blip entry

Ahhhhh, paper, canvas, wood.  Touchable art: all ‘designy’ and pretty and such.  Came back to several boxes of bespoke thank you cards, holiday cards and Dreamscapes filling up the studio.  Yes, I can smell December fast approaching.  In full album-designing mode- such a pleasure to immerse ourselves in these wedding and portrait collections again.  When the images come together in an album, the story just reads in a way it cannot digitally.  Touching, holding your story is really special.  Our clients wait a long time to receive their albums, and I’m so grateful for their patience- it allows me to spend time bringing extra beauty to the layouts, and allows me to really enjoy the process, rather than resenting the embarrassing amounts of time we spend in front of computer screens!  Like we tell our couples, it’s worth the wait, Sweet Things.

Here is a quickie from a full-day engagement session for a radiant couple who wanted a wild Jonetsu tour of the city.  From the deep forest to glam stage lighting, we had a great time together.  Not such a face picture, in order to maintain their privacy- but one can still feel their heat, yes?

JONETSU music album design : The Wiebe’s “Restore the Wonder” CD

Busy times in Jonetsu Land. The last of our weddings from this year has been photographed and delivered until we begin again in February, albums are in full production, holiday cards are getting some serious design love and our clients’ babies are entering the world left, right and centre!  What an exciting time!  Starting later this month, we’ll begin the slow, steady leak of blog bits we’ve intended to share all summer 🙂

To start, we wanted to share the album wardrobe/location styling, photography and design we did for The Wiebe’s new album “Restore the Wonder”.  As some of you already know, Angela & Shane are dear family (Angela is Chadwick’s sister) and they (along with our sweet niece and nephew) mean THE WORLD to us… don’t get me started- I need to see through the rest of this post!  Last week in Calgary, “Restore the Wonder” picked up a very special award: the 2010 Covenant Award (GMA Canada) for the “Inspirational Album of the Year”.  Congratulations guys!!

And ATTN: BRIDES- are you looking for a unique and spectacular, heartfelt song for your Father and Daughter dance?  Well, this album has it: it’s called “My Princess” written by Shane for his daughter Joelle.  Well, I can tell you that song had me balling immediately.  It’s so genuine and moving (the live studio version is my fave– a bit raw and so very tear-inducing.  So many fantastic songs on this album).   What can I say, I think it’s perfect.

Here is a selection of spreads from the album:

Cover (right) and back insert page:

My favourite spread, shot in the studio:
these two are magic together:
some romantic night shooting
I really liked the ethereal feel of this back cover:

A special shout out to Father’s Daughter who picked up the “Southern Gospel Album of the Year” award at the Covenant Awards for their album “I’ll Follow You” (see their album design here. )  Huge congrats to the four of you and hello to the whole family!!

A dear client/new friend of ours suggested that even the odd singular image showing up on the blog could satiate her lol, so here’s a tiny slice of wedding love: Trish and James feel the warmth inside their classic car. It doesn’t matter that it’s pouring and cold out- they have each other, baby.  I feel like this image could be from any era- what do you think?

Oh yah, and check out the newest issues of Real Weddings Magazine and Perfect Weddings magazine for Jonetsu wedding and engagement spreads.  Much love, Camille

JONETSU Engagement Session: Karen & Keiju

I can’t lie, it was a bit of a love fest when these two came by the studio for the first time. Immediate connection. It does happen quite a bit this way, but Karen & Keiju just had to be in our lives. They are hot for each other, their wedding will be spectacular and they really know how to have a good time. ps, you cannot imagine how Karen rocks her heels, like she was born in them- I’m jealous. Plus, Keiju is a supermodel… so is Karen- kind of Kate Moss-ish, wouldn’t you say?

Just so many more in their collection, but here are a few: (I went retro 80s dance party on the font, but it’s working for me right now, inspired by the skirt, you see.)

Keiju - July 29, 2010 - 4:55 pm

Thanks Chad and Camille, the pictures look great. I’m amazed the way you were able to capture the vibrance of the settings and of course, of us. I can’t stress how happy I am with the pics!!

Cheers!

Every moment of this shoot confirmed we have the BEST photographers…
Chadwick and Camille, you guys are the sweetest couple who have the best personalities and are loads of fun. Thank you so much for being such passionate photographers. We are so happy with the “teasers” and are totally fired up to see the rest. Can’t wait for the wedding day!

PS: I learned so many new “words” from the shoot too. =)

Lisa - July 29, 2010 - 6:08 pm

Wow, Karen and Keiju look hot for each other! Very sexy!!! It looks like these 2 were born to do this. I think Keiju should re-think his career path.

K Keating - July 29, 2010 - 7:49 pm

Can’t wait to see the album…these pictures really capture the love and happiness between the the two of you.

Patrick Seto - July 30, 2010 - 12:34 am

I’ve known Karen and Keiju for almost a decade and I’ve seen them at their best but this definitely is a wonderful conglomeration of their deepest and truest joys that they can only exude when they are together.

Bravo!

JONETSU Engagement Session: Krista & Jorge

Krista is an assistant extraordinaire for DreamGroup. It’s incredibly hard to not notice her stunning looks- they kind of grab you from the corner of your view even during a hectic wedding day shooting an entirely different couple- the cheek bones, the smile, the eyes. The really happy energy. Contagious, really. We were honored when Krista & Jorge asked us to shoot their wedding day.
When Jorge looked directly into the camera, I was struck by his sincerity- quite unusual for many of the men we shoot- often it takes a little while to get relaxed enough to go there, but Jorge was comfortable immediately with his love in his arms.
Cannot wait to shot your wedding K&J- and working with Alicia again will be so perfect. It’s a team thing. Much love c& c

Jorge and I were not to sure what to expect for our engagement shoot, and to be honest we were both a little nervous. But as soon as we walked into Camille and Chadwick’s studio we felt completely at ease (maybe it was the wine??)

Their kindness and professionalism is unbelievable. Not only are they extremely talented but they are also a whole lot of fun to be around! We went to some spectacular spots is the city and had a blast! By the end of the night they had us feeling so good about ourselves it’s like we were on top of the world! (it kinda looks like we are in some of the photos)

With our wedding day fast approaching we can not wait to do it all over again : )
