Leanne & James are Having a Baby.

What an exciting and crazy time for a couple to go through.  Our dear friends Leanne & James are expecting their first child very soon, and they are in the process of getting life in order to welcome him or her into their family.  We all took a few minutes between their busy renos/moving and planning schedule… slowed down, got connected.  I’ve always adored how these two are together, and I have to say that I believe their closeness, comfort and love is at an all-time high, even during this hectic time.  If you know Leanne and James, you love them too.
sweet mama monkey grooming times:
Do you think these two may make a beautiful child together?
The red strings around their wrists and their friends’/family’s wrists serve as a reminder of the joy to come and the support we all need to give Mom and Dad to be.  When baby is born and we receive word, the strings get cut off in celebration.  I love this symbolic gesture.
One day I’ll share the images of these two pre-baby from our times in Barcelona a while back.  They’re just so meant to be.  Leanne is an incredible photographer (Leanne Pedersen Photographers) and James an accomplished Cinematographer.  What a team.  L&J, we love you both so much and we’re thinking of you continually as you near your baby’s birthday. xoxo c&c

At Home with Celia & Steven – Vancouver Engagement Session.

When Steven & Celia first walked into the studio, we were struck by their incredible elegance.  After getting to know them, it’s their kindness and generosity that stand out most.  Celia and Steven will marry this month in Vancouver and we are so excited for their union.  I can’t get enough of couples that are just so respectful and wonderful to each other.  What a perfect foundation for an incredible marriage.  OK, back to the elegance….  We shot at Celia’s beautiful Vancouver home.

They love to laugh together.  We had a lot of fun capturing images in this home that has meant so much to Celia over the years.
Celia had a dear friend create the florals around the home.  Yes, people, this is how this beautiful lady lives.  I’m so inspired by her dedication to dramatic, exceptional design.  Give me a reason why we shouldn’t absolutely love our surroundings.  Opulent or not, I think it’s worth the effort to create a space that reflects your joys and represents your personal style.  Also, Steven is a total score of a guy for getting with the pink, fabulous and delightful decor.  His only concern is for his lady’s happiness.  That’s hot stuff right there.
So Celia actually has a boudoir.  A full-on, spectacular from ceiling to floor boudoir (Chadwick said I need to write “floor to ceiling”- but why is that?  What’s the difference?! My response- “Honey, get your own blog”. )

Here is one image from that part of the session…. Steven looks great in the boudoir too.    Celia’s makeup by one of the best in Vancouver, Ms. Hayley Miller!!

looking forward to seeing their album in print form.   Steven and Celia, we really personally appreciate your friendship and talks, and we love to see your dedication to each other.  We wish you all the best and can’t wait for the big day!  xo c&c

Light + Love. Janice & James Vancouver Engagement Session.

Janice and James get the prize for most postponed sessions due to rain in the history of Jonetsu Studios.  It was well worth the wait to work with these two.  I cannot help but smile when Janice breaks out her beautiful laugh.  J&J are an inspiration to us as they are also entrepreneurs that work together!  We can’t wait for their Fairmont Pacific Rim wedding next month.  Tanya from Milestone Events will keep the day running smoothly,  Marliss Productions will capture their big day with cinematic artistry,  Upright Decor and Hilary Miles will turn their decor and floral dreams into reality.  This team- we go way back, baby.  Excited to work with you guys again!

Janice has five sisters (and more brothers!)- can you imagine the beauty and energy at this wedding?  We’ll photograph her sweet sister Julie’s wedding in 2012.

James and Janice, thank you for being such a positive force in this world- what a treat.  xo c

A little re-creation of the night these two met: oh snap! ha!  I can hardly imagine sweet bubbly Janice giving super handsome and Mr. Smooth James the cold shoulder!   True story:

Canucks images last.  You know, tomorrow is a very big night for Vancouver.  I can’t even go on about it.  It’s just too big.  Game Seven.  Let’s do this thing.  Bring home the Cup guys.  Oh, my heart pounds just typing that out.  xo c

Beautiful…I love the way these two laugh with each other…and the “brushing him off” photo in front of the “W”…so fun!

Rachel Tatem - June 14, 2011 - 10:31 pm

Great job making them feel natural! Question: did you do all these on the same day? Where they all included in one package? Cause it looks like 4 sessions

admin - June 15, 2011 - 12:58 am

Thanks Damara and Rachel for your comments! Rachel, yes they are all from one Jonetsu Signature session on one (long!) evening.

Though there is a lot of hustle during magic hours, the sessions are drawn out for a two main reasons: achieving maximum diversity for a truly dynamic album, and to create a fun and relaxed environment so we actually get to know each other well before the wedding day.
We travel together with our clients and we really work hard to make these shoots special. Great stuff comes out of a 1-2hr shoot too, but we also like to offer something more comprehensive 🙂

O, her shoes! the ones she’s wearing in front of the W sign…. they are gorgeous! I dream of being able to fit into shoes like this again one day 😉
