JONETSU ENGAGEMENT ALBUM: Alethea & Ray

Albums, albums albums.  Living and breathing them right now 🙂  My favorite way to present the imagery we create with our clients is undoubtedly the album.

I admit, the total freedom most of our clients give us to choose everything and ‘design away’ is making the process longer (have I said how grateful I am for our sweet, patient clients yet ? oh yes, only a million times…) – but it’s oh so gratifying to see the finished product!

When the delivery person shows up with the album box- I always squeal like a three year old.  Here are a few images of Alethea & Ray’s engagement album- they are super cute and ready to tie the knot in June!  Inspired by their choice to feature bamboo decor elements at their wedding, this album design is all about fresh, green and romantic:

Canucks fans through & through- we had some fun with jerseys at a couple of spots in the city.  Vancouver SMELLS LIKE STANLEY, BABY!

Love the book… looks like you kept a pretty continuous theme which makes for the best books!

VancityAllie - May 27, 2011 - 9:36 pm

Oh man… so beautiful… I can’t wait! Your albums are so personalized… I’m always amazed by how different each one is.

Jana - May 29, 2011 - 11:31 am

Awesome book!

lyndsay - May 29, 2011 - 5:02 pm

GORGEOUS! love the vibrancy of the Canucks-themed pics against the serenity and greenery of the nature-y pics!

oh man. the photos of the photo book are lovely, too!!! ^__^

Whippet Good. A walk with the hounds.

This year, we’re trying to photograph more of our personal times.  It’s taken a while to get over the feeling of self-consciousness, but we’ve found this process quite freeing.  Chadwick and I are going to use this blog to for whatever purposes we want- instead of maintaining a personal blog etc….  it’s simpler and more fun this way.

Chadwick will be writing about things he likes too- like our motorcyle trips, golf, hockey, entertaining- anything.  Yes, we’re photographers so of course we’ll continue to post our shoots as well.

Today we’d like to share our walk with the hounds- our whippets NiNi and Mya.  Whippets can run up to 35 miles per hour, and they are so agile, it makes one dizzy to watch them at times 🙂  Around the house, they are super relaxed and cuddly- a surprise to most who have only seen them from afar. They are available for cuddle times at your request.

this collection of images made me think we need to get new collars/leads for the hounds- something not so “Christmasy”, you know?  Maybe all black or dark grey?  Any suggestions?

damara - May 19, 2011 - 5:51 pm

I think they are going on my list of dogs to have…and that field is spectacular! It makes you just want to lay down with a book and dream the day away.

Leanne - May 19, 2011 - 6:40 pm

These are awesome Camille!
Great seeing you both and your hounds last night!
thanks again:)

Rachel Tatem - May 27, 2011 - 1:09 pm

It is as if it were a dream… looks like you had fun!

Amazing Work great compositions, the blog to go to for inspiration :). lovely

Joel & Echo at the Fairmont Pacific Rim: Choo On, Choo Off.

Loving this time of year when we get to spend so much time getting to know our couples during engagement sessions. Not loving, however, the constant flow of rain here in Vancouver!  Spectacular rainy day photography locations are part of any good Vancouver photographer’s bag of tricks, and with the help of our favorite luxury hotel in town: the Fairmont Pacific Rim (thank you Jennifer!) and wedding coordinator extraordinaire Cristina Samper (of Forever True) , Joel and Echo were able to secure the perfect location for their intimate engagement celebration.  A worthwhile investment in refinement to the last detail, the Chairman’s Suite is the epitome of modern, deluxe Vancouver style.

Echo and Joel are so comfortable and in love with each other, we cannot wait to photograph their wedding next month at the gorgeous Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa in Victoria.  Sometimes it’s fun to play fashion model for the day, and these two were certainly up for the task.  With a great appreciation for all things designer, Joel and Echo easily relaxed and had a blast getting in and out of multiple outfits and ladies…….. shoes like you wouldn’t believe… in this post, I’m only featuring one of four pairs of Delightful Soles: the magical Jimmy Choo “Viola” adorned with Swarovski crystals *swoon* – I had to show a portrait of them, too.

Makeup by the always perfect Hayley Miller

Lovely lovely lovely shoot!

admin - May 18, 2011 - 12:18 pm

thanks guys!!! we had so much fun. The Fairmont really pulled out all the stops for Joel and Echo’s engagement (yes- they actually got officially engaged during the shoot too!)- at the Pacific Rim, they actually have services to arrange for really special engagements- so beyond being cover from the rain for us that day- they organized a totally romantic little event in no time at all! Really, can’t recommend them enough (can you tell? lol!).

VancityAllie - May 18, 2011 - 1:19 pm

Mommy Moments

I’m only a Mom to two furry children right now, but I have a great love and appreciation for all of the Mothers out there.  What a gift to see and capture our beautiful brides turning into incredible Mothers (some on to three children now!).

Right now, I know two extraordinary Moms who are sitting beside their sons at Children’s Hospital, bringing their maximum levels of love, strength and fight as their boys beat cancer.  Come on, what could be bigger in life?  A & T we think of you guys every day and we love you.

To our Moms- we love you deeply and are grateful every day to have you so close in our lives (literally and figuratively).  Happy Mother’s Day.  Time together is all that matters.  xo c&c

Our shoots always include what we call “face pictures”- but my favorites are always the little, gentle moments- the touches and genuine emotion that come through in a photograph.  Not always “perfect” pictures, but always a beautiful sentiment.  Here are a handful of images- the last two- my Mom, me and the hounds last Mother’s Day and the final image is an infant Chadwick with his Mom- doesn’t he look sooooooooooo much like her???

angela hubbard - May 6, 2011 - 2:46 pm

JONETSU Studios among American Photo Magazine Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World 2011

Chadwick and I are extremely humbled and delighted to have been chosen as one of American Photo’s Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World.  In ‘wedding photography land’ worldwide, this is the bee’s knees of mentions, and the talented company we share on this year’s list include people that have been incredible innovators in our field for a long time.  I’d say surreal and overwhelmed are appropriate words to describe how we feel being mentioned with these folks.  Please take some time to check out their work- very inspiring:

We wanted to thank first and foremost, our clients.  It must be said that we know we’ve done something right when we continue to work with the kind of genuine, warm and ultimately trusting couples since JONETSU launched in 2000.

The issue will be on news stands on May 10th, and it’s up on Zinio in digital release now.  In the Editor’s note (below), you can read how the decisions came to be.

Thank you to the esteemed people on the advisory panel who nominated us (so awesome!) and a special thanks to writer Aimee Baldridge for digging through our hour long conversation to get to the heart of what we’re about in the article.

Feeling very grateful and honored today- thanks for your kind messages & phone calls- they mean a lot to us.  To our family and friends- always our biggest support system- thank you for your continued support and positive energy.  We couldn’t possibly feel more loved, and to be able to count on you for last minute requests (CB!!) & honest feedback is pure GOLD!

Moving forward, it’s our intention to maintain our focus on creating the best images we can by capturing our couples’ true spirits and personalities.  This kind of recognition adds even more creative fuel to the mix.  There are so many deserving photographers out there (within Canada, too)… it’s a lot to handle right now…so we’ll just get with this and pop some champagne!  Yay!

The cover (amazing image by Rocco Ancora):

Editor’s note and Advisory Panel.  100 nominees were researched to get down to the final ten.

And here is our feature.  The editors chose this image of Tracey and Ryan following their intimate ceremony in the back yard of Ryan’s family home:
