HERE’S TO MAKING MISTAKES! :)

Thank you to all of the kind and detail-oriented souls who emailed us to notify that I watermarked every image in our last post with the wrong spelling of our company name (nope, couldn’t blame this one on Chadwick- though he DID see the post and also didn’t notice!).  Also, thank you for letting us know that the jonetsu.ca link isn’t functioning.  meh. That’s what I get for rushing to get something out at 2am before leaving the country.  I know I’m taking the long route, but I still do all of my posts by hand, without templates or auto sizing/watermarking.  I think I may have found a better option for blogging at a recent tradeshow (along with a new concept for our new website), so I’m going to leave that post alone and let my mistake live for now.

We’ve been traveling every month since I can remember, and quite frankly, I’m feeling a little home sick.  I find traveling to be incredibly inspiring in so many ways, so I wouldn’t be able to live with out it for long, but now I wish to be home.  With the hounds and my husband.  Entertaining friends and turning the inspiring ideas I’ve collected for album designs, new product lines and home decor into reality… from the comfort of the home office or the studio. On our travels, I make lots of time to journal and sketch and dream.  And I think about mistakes a lot.  When I make a mistake or fail at a task, I try to think it through extensively- then do my best to learn from it and LET IT GO. Key word: “try”

These photos are on New Years in Quebec City- what a great city.  First time there, we’ll be back for sure: freezing cold or not.

ps thanks for your overwhelming interest in our belly/family photography services.  We’re still unable to accept new clients for now, but we’re working on getting some options together in time for summer.  Thanks for your patience, friends! xo c

I love your sincerity in this post and the amazing happiness exuding from that photo!

I totally feel the same way about needing home time. Sometimes being home is the best possible place to be 🙂

JONETSU FAMILY PORTRAIT FEST (PART 1)

I remember the times when someone would ask me, “oh this must me your down time, right?” and I would reply “yes, it’s lovely to have time off, but we’re so excited about next shooting season”.  Well, there is no longer a season, and we are honored to be photographing and album designing year-round for so many sweet families.  This is part one of a series of family shoots we’re looking forward to sharing with you.  Weddings…. yes I’ll get to blogging those, too.  Some of these beautiful folks you may rember from sessions/weddings past 🙂  We’re not offering Vancouver family photography to new clients for the time being, but keep in touch or read the blog to find out when we have openings if you’re interested.  Hope 2012 is off to a fabulous start for you! xo c

JONETSU ENGAGEMENT SESSION: MICHELLE & BRAD (COAT ENVY)

We’ve been looking forward to getting outside for a Vancouver engagement session with Brad and Michelle for some time.  Turned out to be an ice cold day, but the timing was perfect- an afternoon frolicking is just what the doctor ordered for these two.  Life can be so hectic, crazy work hours can get in way of connection- believe me, we know the feeling these days (even though we work side by side!).  I remember first meeting Michelle and Brad at Melissa & Traelach’s wedding(Michelle’s twin sister)… I remembered how they smiled at each other at the reception and how they had this sparkly energy together.

Very in love, and best friends all the way:

Here comes the coat envy.  Hudson’s Bay Company blanket coat designed by Smythe:
I’m a big fan of hoods you can fit three people into.
Vancouver’s new crown.
Michelle MADE this red dress.  She made her sister’s wedding gown, and the bridesmaid gowns and she is MAKING her wedding gown.  It is going to be beyond incredible and personal- I have never been more excited to see a bride on her wedding morning.

JONETSU IN WEDLUXE : ECHO AND JOEL, BRENTWOOD BAY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

The new issue of Wedluxe is out and it’s a delicious read, lots of eye candy, as usual.  Echo and Joel’s wedding was full of fashion and personal style,  fitting in so well with Wedluxe’s mandate to showcase the most beautiful weddings in Canada (see J&E’s Fairmont Pacific Rim engagement session here).  Pick up the magazine to read all of Joel & Echo’s details and enjoy many other wonderful weddings photographed by Vancouver’s best wedding photographers,  featuring the quality, artistic works of incredible florists, decorators and wedding planners (see the complete list of credits after the images).  Echo & Joel, we had so much fun with you two and your family (you guys really know how to party- my goodness! 🙂  Can’t wait for your wedding in China!  xo c&c

The wedding took place at Victoria’s Brentwood Bay Resort and Spa, where Echo and Joel welcomed family and friends from China.  The intimate, West Coast vibe of the area was exactly what they were looking for.  Cristina Samper Pearl from Forever True moved mountains to plan their wedding in only three months from the engagement!

Echo, you are a stunning and kind woman.  Want to get styled like this?  To get your own Monique Lhullier or Oscar or Marchesa…. go see the sweet and ulitimately helpful ladies at Bisou Bridal
this bouquet design by the freakishly talented FLOWERZ is one of my favourites of all time.  Delicate to look at and bomb-proof at the same time.  They really brought pure artistry and extreme quality to all of the florals.

feathers?  yes, please Mr. de la Renta:
the food at Brentwood Bay was lovely:
ok, with wine and champagne passing- it’s time to get smiling, people!  This was a group of friends and family who really know how to have a good time.  We’ve kept many guest images under wraps for privacy reasons.  There may have been some excitement with singing and orchids flying, designer gowns poolside- but I’m not sure.

Stunning. In particular, the contrast between chic wedding attire and the surroundings within the airplane hangar. I’ve been to Brentwood Bay Resort several times and though it’s a beautiful resort, I’ve never seen it look so good. Nicely done.

I really love the colorful style of oriental weddings. This makes me want to get married all over again.
